October has come and gone and it was the bees knees.
With the help of my friend, I successfully completed the West Highland Way. Nine years in the making and I finally got to the finish line. And I was proud of myself and grateful indeed.
I had a week at home and then flew out to Bilbao for a few days with a meet up with another friend over from the states. It was good to catch up, wine and dine and feast on art.
October has come and gone and I’m grateful for the gifts I bestowed upon myself. I had experiences that will live on within my bones and heart and soul. Thank you.
November is here and she is punishing me.
With the help of spending a lot of time in 2023 applying for funding and being knocked back, the end of the year sees a dream come to fruition in extension of the Black Nature in Residence programme.
We've got five creatives of the global majority going into residency in the five northern National Parks. And we are pumped. This is a game changer in terms of who is in control and has the power as this is a Black-led creative nature project. And we, at identity on tyne are handing the reins over to the creatives to become experts in their own residency.
November is here and she is punishing me as demands are being made from all sides. But I’m grateful for this opportunity to coordinate such a wonderful project.
December is just around the corner and the frenzy of the holidays.
But hold up, before we spiral into the holiday season and rush blindly into squeezing as many meetings, gatherings, to-do-lists, making merry and light, I’m pressing pause.
And rewinding. I’m rewinding back to the Highlands of Scotland.
Towards the end of the West Highland Way, we stayed within the Glencoe area. A lodge type hotel with snow peaked mountains, a river and stags. I intend to return.
To retreat to the Highlands to fill my creative pot one more time before the end of the year. To take time to be, to sit by the open fire, create and sample whiskey!
I’ve got more dreaming to do on paper.
